A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME . . .
I was born on the South Side of Chicago and grew up in a northern suburb, but my heart has always belonged to Door County. Summers on my grandpatents’ farm shaped me and after earning my first teaching job at little Sister Bay School, I knew I was home.
Teaching took me on adventures, including time in Europe with DODDS, but eventually I returned to Door County and earned a Master’s Degree in Education, specializing in Gifted and Talented Learners and Creativity. I spent 39 years teaching at Gibraltar Area Schools before leaving in 2010 to devote more of my time to Liberty Grove Paper Arts - so in many ways, I never really stopped teaching. Retirement didn’t mean slowing down - it meant diving even deeper into the world of paper arts, enlarging on many of the same techniques and skills I used in my public school teaching. Teaching and creating go hand in hand, and Liberty Grove Paper Arts became my way of sharing the joy of creativity with others.
I started with bookbinding and origami, then added paper marbling and box making, and now also teach gelli printing and paste papers. The world of paper arts is just exploding with possibilities.
So, whether you’re a seasoned artist or someone who is just curious about the world of paper, I invite you to join me. Let’s fold, bind, and create together. Let’s make something beautiful!
